Western Power Shockproof Program

On Monday and Tuesday this week our students participated in the Western Power Shockproof Schools Program.

Every year in Western Australia families are affected by the trauma of injury associated with electrical shock.  Most of these injuries are preventable and are due to a lack of understanding of electrical safety.

ShockProof is a free electrical safety and energy efficiency education program for Pre primary to Year Seven students. The program encourages active learning and class participation in a fun and engaging presentation.

The program helped teach students:
  • how electricity works
  • how they come into contact with electricity every day
  • the dangers of electricity
  • how to be energy efficient
The program also communicates energy efficiency messages for children to practise at home and at school and encourages responsible energy use.
