Welcome

Hi, my name is Stephen Bevan and I am Principal at Tuart Hill Primary School in Perth, Western Australia. Research shows that open and clear communication between home and school is important which is why I have created this blog. As Principal of Tuart Hill Primary School I value your opinions and encourage your comments. Feel free to comment on any of the posts.

I will endeavour to provide you with regular and informative posts about our school and its activities. I ask that your comments be constructive and positive with any concerns or complaints directed to me personally at school.

Tuart Hill Primary School prides itself on the positive, open and friendly culture that has been established. Our vision is to raise the literacy level of all students through the provision of quality teaching and learning opportunities.

New Position

Dear Parents/Carers

In Term 4 I will be leaving Tuart Hill Primary School and taking up the position of Principal at Madeley Primary School. I have enjoyed my time as Principal over the past six years and am very sad to be leaving all the wonderful students, parents and staff here at Tuart Hill. I believe that we have come a long way and have achieved some wonderful things. Some notable highlights include:

  • The Centenary celebrations

  • Building the Community Arts centre under the Federal Government’s Building the Education Revolution funding

  • Development of the kitchen through the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program

  • Development of the garden through the Greenfingers TV show

  • Implementation of sustainability initiatives across the school

  • Implementation of a successful ICT program which has resulted in greater student access to computers and tablets

  • Becoming an Independent Public School
My replacement for Term 4 and beyond is yet to be decided. As soon as this information is available it will be shared with the school community.

Good Attendance at Open Night

Almost 60% of our student were represented at last week's Open Night. This is a good indicator of the support of our parents. Many thanks go to those who attended.

Kitchen-Garden Program in Action

Mr Ioannou and Ms McQueen have been working on a program involving literacy, ICT, sustainability and cooking in our kitchen over the past few weeks. Their students have been highly motivated and engaged and have created some wonderful food.

This week they pulled out the pizza oven and prepared some delicious pizzas!
